Outside of project work, FJB also provide specialist services covering the more niche disciplines/specialism that affect the food & temperature controlled sectors.
Our specialist engineers have in-depth experience of the following niche sectors:-
• Frostheave in coldstores (the freezing of the sub-soil below the coldstore floor) can have disastrous consequences for any operator. Frequently, frostheave is first noticed when racking starts to tilt or forklifts start to ‘slide’.
• FJB have been instructed on many cases of frostheave, world-wide and have a wealth of experience in this field.
• In many instances, FJB have devised remedial measures that enabled the floors to be re-instated to their original condition, without the need to dig up the whole floor; a costly and time consuming process.
• Insulation envelopes can be subject to onerous conditions; especially where they are subject to condensation (roof voids), foot traffic and general imposed service loads.
• In coldstores, ingressing moisture from damaged vapour seals can lead to moisture ingress & ice build-up within the panels, ultimately leading to delamination, loss of strength & sometimes collapse.
• FJB specialise in assessing mineral wool, PIR, EPS & PU cored composite panels and the insulation envelopes as a whole.
• FJB have undertaken detailed condition assessments and reports for an extensive portfolio of clients. We carry out invasive core-sampling, thermographic surveys and structural analysis of the insulation panel systems to determine the stability and suitability of an insulation envelope in a scientific manner.
• FJB provide specialist assistance to insurance assessors, who wish to obtain independent and qualified advice as to the extent of damage, cause of failure and cost of damage.
• FJB have also assisted with accelerating the reconstruction of the loss, in order to mitigate business interruption costs.
• Natural refrigerants, such as ammonia, hydro-carbons & CO2, whilst environmentally friendly, pose additional compliance obligations on end-users.
• FJB undertake a full raft of compliance surveys, assessments & reports to enable our clients to be fully compliant with the latest Codes & Regulations:-
• FJB provide specialist advice & designs for freezing processes & problems. This includes:-
• FJB carry out thermographic surveys of insulation envelopes & completed buildings.
• This service can assist with threshold heater & underfloor heating failures, insulation surveys (pipework & envelope) and overall building heat loss/efficiency.
• FJB provide Expert Witness services for all the above disciplines.
• We can assist at the earliest stage to advise clients of our impartial opinion, so that they can determine the most suitable course of action.
• FJB can assist throughout the legal process, providing expert & fully qualified opinion.
